I was born and educated in Glasgow and worked my way through various portfolio and basic art & design courses before deciding on graphic design, incorporating photography and illustration at Cardonald College. The graphic design course goes someway to explaining the somewhat technical feel to my work. This is balanced by my two main influences, artist Ralph Steadman and architectural artist Hughson Hawley. After graduating in 1990 I worked as a graphic artist for three years before becoming a freelance illustrator/artist. The majority of my work is of an architectural nature, depicting buildings and cityscapes. Through my preferred medium of watercolour and ink I try to express the dynamic contours of city buildings and reflect the vigour of urban life.
