Alexander McCallum was born in Glasgow in 1935 and will be 74 this year. He describes himself as a happy old man who paints. Some time ago he was a young man who was, in turn, an engineer, an army musician, a senior manager in various industries, a management consultant and a company director. Being an old man who paints is best he says. Over the years, when time permitted, Alex produced visual representations in painting and collage - mostly Scottish landscapes. Recently he has turned to abstract compositions. He lives in Netherblane and works from home. He and his wife Anne have 5 children and 13 grandchildren between them.
