Drysdale Scott was born in Glasgow in 1963. He studied contemporary painting and art at Glasgow School of Art between 1983 and 1987. He graduated with a BA Honours Degree in Fine Art.

Like many Scottish Artists, since graduating Drysdale Scott has taught Art and Design in several Scottish Schools. Scott has also spent time lecturing Art in continuing education programmes at Clydebank College, Ayr College and Glasgow School of Art.

Drysdale Scott is a contemporary figurative artist who produces paintings of Portrait and Figures compositions and Still Life studies. His paintings are contemporary narrative images based on modern day themes and events.

Drysdale Scott paintings are the result of influences from the great art works of Velazquez, Titian, La Tour, Caravaggio, Hopper, and Bacon. In his paintings Scott seeks to 'capture a moment in time'. He believes that composition, realism and strong draughtsmanship are of equal importance to the narrative involved in creating his contemporary paintings.
