Panik Gallery opened in Killearn in the summer of 2004 as a venue for contemporary Scottish art and design. Run by design duo, Paul Brown and Annika Simpson who have been operating a printed textile design studio, Panik Designs, in the village since 2003. Panik Gallery holds bimonthly group exhibitions which have included painting, printmaking, photography, textiles, ceramics, jewellery and glass. Paul and Annika like showing the work of emerging as well as established artists and designers. "Having recently graduated from Glasgow School of Art ourselves, we know how difficult it can be to get your work seen, so we'd like to provide a space where talented new graduates can exhibit their work next to those who have already built up a reputation and established themselves as artists and designers." says Paul. Panik Designs, which is situated behind the gallery, creates exclusive hand screen printed and digitally printed textiles for domestic and commercial interiors. Working closely with interior designers and architects, as well as private clients, Paul and Annika will produce one-off custom designed and hand printed fabrics for a variety of interior applications including; curtains, roman blinds, cushions, upholstery, tableware, wall hangings etc. You can see a range of their products and sample fabrics in the gallery which also houses their showroom. The gallery is open 7 days, from 10 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday and 11 am to 5 pm Saturday and Sunday. If the door is locked then please ring the doorbell as Paul and Annika will probably be working in their studio at the back. |
