Mairi Aitken graduated in drawing and painting from the Glasgow School of Art and, after gaining a teacher training diploma from Jordanhill College of Education, went on to teach art in a number of schools, both in England and Scotland. As a gallery artist she exhibits widely throughout the U.K. and also takes part in small group and open exhibitions. She has also had several solo exhibitions in various galleries. Her work has been included in Art Fairs in Glasgow, Edinburgh, Battersea and Cannes. A Past President of The Glasgow Society of Women Artists, she exhibits regularly with them. She is also an artist member of The Paisley Art Institute where she has won a number of prizes.
