Born in Glasgow, Marion has lived in Scotland all her life. She likes to combine her love of hill-walking with painting al fresco to capture life with a sense of urgency and immediacy. Marion works mainly in oils, enjoying the intensity of sculpting the paint with knives, rags and fingers that she feels engender the dynamic forces of nature into her art. Rather than be restricted by subject matter Marion thinks it is necessary to paint still life, real life, landscape and portraiture. Her aim is always to capture the 'moment' in her paintings. She greatly admires the work of many Scottish artists with the strongest influences on Marion's work being Stephen Carruthers, Jenny Saville and Enid Foote Watts.
