The paintings explore the interplay between colours and shapes.
Some works feature boats with their variously shaped hulls and sail colours providing a kaliedoscopic display set against variable seas.
Other works depict the old and quaint buildings of Scottish fishing villages and towns. Often their gravitas and serenity arise from an array of complex interacting shapes and muted colours. Musical interests have also been the catalyst for a number of pictures relating to the interplay of the various shapes and colours that characterise musical performance, either in orchestras or smaller groups. |
