Siobhan Healy designs and makes architectural glass panels, large crystal forms and in contrast, delicate crystal jewellery. Designs for individuals are made within the 'Architectural Glass Artists' studio, based in the Wasps Studios, Denniston, Glasgow. Larger contracts are accomplished in conjunction with fellow AGA studio members. Siobhan is interested in using details of plant anatomy in her designs, which assume an abstract quality. She finds that the fragility of handmade glass and the subtle range of hues, lend themselves to creating flower petals and leaves. She has researched plants with medicinal properties and the folklore associated with herbal remedies. The intention is that the work will connect with people on a deeper level, to evoke distant memories and to conjure up reassuring feelings invoked by nature.
