Susan Breakenridge comes from a highly creative artistic family and has a natural aptitude for composition. After working at home and abroad, in the printing industry, she became the first female full-time lecturer in the Printing Department at the Glasgow College of Building and Printing - specialising in Graphic Reproduction.
A skilled black and white photography specialist, Susan concentrates mainly on still-life and landscape subjects. Always using natural daylight (never flash), a hand-held light meter and her totally manual Hasselblad medium format camera, she works patiently waiting for the light to be at its best. Susan works in her traditional darkroom, processing and printing all her own work personally, for maximum control from camera to print. She tones and hand-colours her prints where applicable. Her images are usually printed full frame and seldom cropped. Her work has been published, exhibited, is held in private collections and has been commissioned.
