Susan kerr is a recent graduate from Edinburgh College of Art and is currently a part-time
artist-in-residence in the Jewellery and Silversmithing department of the college.
Statement
The development of my jewellery has occurred through two main areas of research: one being
the drawing, painting and collecting of flowers and images, the other the ongoing observation
of trends in fashion and other related design fields. Although I look at organic resources as
a starting point when designing, I aim not to make 'typical' organic jewellery, but rather to
simplify imagery into bold or detailed cut-out patterns and areas of colour to create striking
brooches, necklaces, earrings and rings.
