Artist Statement: I have returned to painting full time as I previously worked for an art project involving various community groups and also made the decision to concentrate on my family. I have continued my interest in art in general during this time being involved indirectly through my husband's artwork. I am now excited to develop my artwork and take my painting process further. I am beginning to explore and open new ways I can experiment with colour and explain a space using an economy of brushstrokes, simplifying and allowing more abstract qualities to come through. I feel this in turn allows the painting to express an atmosphere. My recent paintings are of coastal areas around Scotland. I am attempting to evoke the presence of these places, how they constantly change as the light picks out colours and textures. Website, text, images and designs all © Panik Designs 2003
